About us
Waldinger Hotel**** with its short history, tells a story of cultural and civilisation development of modern Osijek . The building was created – as Baumgartner Haus – in 1904. This was also the year when a painter, after whom the hotel was named, died. Painter Adolf Ignjo Waldinger.
So the birth of this hotel marks a double centenary. A hundredth anniversary of one creation and one disappearance. It seems as if the building itself was predestined for a double renaissance. It is preserved as a cultural and environmental monument. It was designed and ornamented by the real representative of Osijek secession – it was the architect and sculptor Ante Slaviček. Slaviček was a versatile and inspired creator. On the façade of the building, whose name defines the garden and its gardener, he shaped formal ornaments – a disentangled wreath. It seems as though the façade itself greats the visitor. And above, under the roof, there are all different kinds of ornaments. The designer, with the secessionist decoration of the façade, suggested that the building itself is a mysterious puzzle.

The interior of the hotel is designed in the same form. Stained-glass windows on the ceiling, on the door of the hall, an antique decoration, artistic paintings, carving in the wood and small labyrinths of the interior take you to 2 different centuries at the same time. The one which has passed still lives as beauty and is all around you. The one which begins, you materialize with your life. This is what brought you to this city and this hotel.
With your entrance you discover it!
